Meet Our Two New Associates: Welcome to Proactive, Seb and Freya.
Proactive Chiropractic and Sports Injury Clinic is delighted to introduce our two new Associates, Seb and Freya.
Following their internship with the Cardiff Devils, where they worked under Principal Chiropractor, Kathryn, both Seb and Freya join the Proactive Team with plenty of experience and enthusiasm for helping patients.
We sat down with each of them to discuss their interests and hopes for their time with Proactive, starting with Seb:
“My interest in Chiropractic grew from a lifelong fascination with human anatomy, with a particular focus on how each structure functions individually and works together to support movement and performance. From playing sport myself, I saw first-hand the vital role chiropractors play in injury recovery, rehabilitation and ongoing care, which I think set me on the path to a career in the field.
I graduated from the University of South Wales in 2026 with a Masters in Chiropractic, and I have built on this with further qualifications in sports massage, dry needling, taping, and shockwave therapy.”
Seb also spent a year with the Cardiff Devils Ice Hockey team, working closely with Kathryn and gaining first-hand experience of elite-level injuries, high time pressures, and fast-paced rehabilitation.
“I would say I have a passion for working with sports athletes of all standards, from weekend recreational players to professionals, as well as anyone motivated to improve their health and return to fitness.”
Outside of the clinic, Seb is an avid lacrosse and field hockey player, having represented Wales at the 2026 European Box Lacrosse Championships in Prague. He is also a keen ice hockey fan, supporting both the Cardiff Devils and the Bristol Pitbulls.
Areas of Interest:
Contact Sports Injuries
Headaches and migraines
Low back pain treatments
We also met with Freya to discuss her journey towards becoming a Chiropractor:
“I graduated with a first-class Master of Chiropractic from the University of South Wales in July 2026. I also hold certificates in Level 3 Sports Massage, Dry Needling, Sports Taping, and Shockwave which, I think, allows me to bring a well-rounded and versatile approach to patient care at Proactive Chiropractic.
I was a competitive swimmer for 10 years and reached the British Championships on three occasions, competing as a finalist. It was around this point that I experienced my own injuries and first discovered chiropractic care. The friendly, effective treatment I received opened my eyes to a type of healthcare I had never considered. Combined with a lifelong fascination with the human body, its physical limits, and its complex systems, I knew she had found my calling.”
Freya’s deep understanding of movement stems not only from her athletic background but also from her time as a swim teacher and coach. Working with individuals of all ages and abilities, she learned how to adapt to different bodies and optimise functional movement in the water. Over the past year, she has also gained hands-on experience working alongside Kathryn with the Cardiff Devils Ice Hockey team as a student chiropractor, developing an eye for elite athletic injury management.
“Outside of clinic, I love exploring the outdoors, whether that is hiking through the Brecon Beacons or braving the waters for a wild swim. I’m also a foodie, always on the hunt for unique local spots to try. I have an ever-growing list of places I need to try and will always accept recommendations. Recently, I have been trying to get back into swimming, setting my sights on tackling triathlons, though, I admit, my running is awful, so hopefully my swim can pull me through.”
Areas of Interest:
Knee Injuries (including Runner's and Jumper's Knee)
Swimming-Related Shoulder Pain
Hypermobility
You will be able to book appointments with Seb and Freya at both clinics from August.
