Stress Awareness Month 2026.
Stress Awareness Month is an annual event dedicated to increasing public awareness about the causes, effects, and management of stress.
Many of us have accepted stress as a staple part of modern life, with over 70% of adults reporting regularly experienced mental distress and overwhelm. This is also seen in the wrokplace, with around 25% of workers experienced significant pressure over the past year, and burnout is now affecting more than half of workers. The impact is clear: increased absenteeism, reduced productivity, and declining mental wellbeing.
Stress Awareness Month offers organisations an opportunity to take action by raising awareness, reducing stigma, and creating supportive environments before issues escalate.
Chronic stress has been found to inrease our risk of anxiety, depressiona and other mental health conditions. It can also increase risks of physical health problems including heart disease, insomnia, muscle pain and obesity.
The theme for this year’s Stress Awareness Month is Be The Change!
The Stress Management Society has released some ways we can all be a part of the change this month:

Simple Ways to Manage Stress
While stress is a part of life, small daily habits can make a big difference:
Meditation - Taking just a few minutes to pause and focus can help calm the mind and reduce mental overload.
Breathwork (Box Breathing) - Your breath is a powerful tool for regulating stress. Try this simple technique:
Inhale for 4 seconds.
Hold for 4 seconds.
Exhale for 4 seconds.
Hold for 4 seconds.
Repeat for 2–5 minutes.
Spend Time Outdoors - Nature has an immediate calming effect. A short walk or simply sitting in a green space can boost your mood and lower stress levels.
Talk About It - Remember, you do not have to manage stress alone. Sharing how you feel can lighten the load, because a problem shared really is a problem halved.
